Oscar de la Renta was born in 1932 in the Dominican Republic. Since the beginning displayed an early aptitude for art. He moved to Spain, where he studied painting in Madrid. Fascinated by Spanish culture and growing interest in fashion, Oscar began sketching for fashion houses. This lead him to work with Cristobal Balenciaga and in 1960 left Spain to go to Paris and work with Lanvin.

After some years in haute couture world he decided to move to United States and create his own brand. Oscar’s background in the Dominican Republic and his experience in fashion houses in Madrid an Paris, lead him to express in a unique, colorful and femenine fashions featuring luxurious fabrics and attention to details. He experienced immediate success. This succes continued through years.

Oscar de la Renta first fragrance was launched in 1977, Oscar for women. A series of fragrances for men and women have followed.
