MASON PEARSON
With over 130 years of craftsmanship and innovation behind it, the Mason Pearson story dates back to the 1850s. At that time, inventor and engineer Mason Pearson moved from Bradford to London's East End to work at the British Steam Brushworks brush factory.
The turning point came in 1885, when Mason Pearson invented a drilling machine that improved the brush production process and developed the first pneumatic brush with a patented natural rubber pad. This pneumatic brush would allow for much softer, more flexible, and adaptable brushing for every hair type.
This natural rubber pad was a revolution in the history of brushes. The pad was patented in 1918 and has remained unchanged since its creation. It is still the same pad used in brushes today.
